Session & Question Limits

The Chatbot tab controls the core behavioural limits that govern how the AI conducts sessions. These settings directly affect the client experience.

Available Settings

Max Tokens (Chat)

Setting: max_tokens_chat | Range: 100–2000 | Default: 500

Controls the maximum length of each AI response. Higher values allow longer, more detailed replies. Lower values keep responses concise.

Recommendation: 400–600 is ideal for a coaching context. Too high and responses become verbose; too low and they feel truncated.

Max Messages

Setting: max_messages | Range: 5–60 | Default: 20

The maximum number of back-and-forth messages in a single session before the system forces a close. This is a safety cap — the talking points limit (below) usually ends sessions first.

Talking Points (Question Cap)

Setting: talking_points | Range: 3–50 | Default: 10

The number of AI questions before the session closes and the report is triggered. This is the primary control over session length.

For biodecoding methodology: The system is designed around a 5-question cap. This is enforced via the practitioner prompt and guardrails. The talking_points setting acts as a hard backstop — set it to 5–7 to match the methodology.

How to Update

  1. Go to Admin → Chatbot tab
  2. Adjust the values in the relevant fields
  3. Click Save Chatbot Settings

Changes apply immediately to all new sessions.
